Payson Winter Engagement Session
It all starts off pretty simple. Alix and I were mutual friends with the same group of people, we just didn’t know each other yet. Until one night her and a group of her friends, including Claire, a friend of mine, needed a ride to the light rail. They just so happened to be in my apartment complex and Claire asked if I can help them. I was on my way out that night as well, so I said “of course!” It was a brief ride but enough time for Alix and I to exchange Instagram and follow each other on social media. We would like each others posts here and there, and I just couldn’t believe how beautiful she was. I am a pretty shy guy, so I thought I had no chance! I personally thought I would never actually see her again in person.
What Happened Next?
Fast forward a few weeks later, a group of friends of mine and I were heading to Newport Beach for the 4th of July. It was a big group of us, and we were going to stay in a large beach house. We needed one extra person to come with, and Claire had asked Alix if she wanted to come. Alix was hesitant at first because she had just finished school and was starting her career as a teacher, but she ended up making the decision to come along, thank god she did. I was told the night before she was coming, and I don’t know what it was, but I instantly felt excitement. I had only met this girl once and maybe spoke to her for 5 minutes, but I couldn’t help but feel overjoyed that she was coming along.
Once we arrived in Newport, we came to find out that the beach house we were supposed to stay in, was actually someones real house they currently occupied. We were scammed out of a ton of money, and we all ended up in a one bedroom suite at a Travelodge a few miles away. I thought this was a disaster but the whole time we were scrambling to figure out what to do, Alix was just enjoying the beach, the sun, and the fact that she was in California. I admired her positivity. That evening, Alix and I started talking and laughing and enjoying each others company. I started to realize how awesome this girl was and started to wonder why she thought I was so funny and interesting. I honestly was stunned, a girl this pretty and cool was talking to me. Once everyone was ready, we all went down to the beach, but of course everyone around me either had a fake ID or were over 21, so they all went to the bar. While everyone was away, I decided to take some time to myself and sit by the pier. It was calming but at the same time, I felt lonely. While listening to the waves crash on the shore, I heard someone yell “Sage!” I turn around and it’s Alix by herself, running towards me. She leaped into my arms, laughing and smiling. Before I realized it, her lips were on mine. I was shocked but at the same time relieved. I had been so nervous/ excited to meet her and to get to know her, and she made the first move!
I knew something was special between us so I kept her by my side the whole trip. We were inseparable, although Alix had told me she didn’t know if she wanted a relationship or not, and almost challenged me to be the same way I was in a Cali, back at home. So once we got home, I took her out, I constantly wanted to see her. I did everything in my power to show her I cared for her. The first thing I told my roommate about her was, “this girl is the most amazing person I have ever met.” I fell harder and harder for her every day. I took her to the fine dining restaurant I used to work at, and I had the chef customize a dessert that said, “will you be my girlfriend?” She said yes. A year goes by, and she has become my absolute best friend. We got a dog named Professor together, who has become our son and our whole world. Another year goes by, we decide to move in together. It felt natural because I pretty much lived at her place anyways. She became my rock, my motivation, and everything I wanted in a partner. We adopted another dog named Leila, who became our sweet baby. We then moved into the house we live in now, and everything around me pointed to the fact that this girl was going to be my wife, so, I decided to make it happen. I reached out to a buddy of mine that had a cabin in Pine Top. I wanted to propose to her on New Years Eve day, so when we woke up in the morning, we would start the new year as an engaged couple. I invited all of our friends to be there and celebrate with us. On the morning of News Years Eve, I was so nervous, I couldn’t think straight. I wanted to propose later on in the day, but I couldn’t wait. I was acting weird and Alix noticed. I took her for a little walk and had a speech in my head, but when I opened my mouth, all I could say was “I love you more than anything. I don’t know anyone else in this world that I would rather spend my life with. You are my everything. Alix Dawn Turner, will you marry me?” She thankfully, said yes.
4, almost 5 years later from the moment I met Alix, I couldn’t imagine what my life would be like without her. She has become the most influential person in my life, she has become the greatest friend someone can have, and she has become the greatest love I could have ever imagined. She is my gorgeous, she is my fiance, and she is my future wife. And there is no man luckier than I am.
