New York City Engagement Session // Rachael + Woody

There has been so much going on around here lately and we just arrived back from New York where I had the opportunity to photograph Woody+ Rachael’s New York City Engagement Session! We had the best time and I could not be happier with their engagement collection! I met Woody + Rachael a few weeks ago while photographing Rachael’s sister, Sarah’s wedding here in Arizona at The Windmill Winery! Rachael let me know that she had been “Stalking me” via Social Media and would love for me to photograph her wedding day! So after a few phone calls ironing out the details, we headed for their New York City Engagement Session! I always love hearing how our couples meet and the gushy details behind their engagement story, so here is what Rachael had to say about how her and Woody met!

“These days, online dating has become the normal platform for people to meet. I had tried online dating once, with little success, and thought for sure I would meet my future husband the old fashioned way. And so, it came as a surprise (a great one) that I found him by swiping left during a NYC snow storm in January of 2015. I signed up for OK Cupid for only 3 hours that day (it was very random and there wasn’t much to do inside during the snowstorm) before deleting it again, but in the process, I got Woody’s number so we could keep chatting. That night, he called me (like they used to do in 1999) and we talked for 3 hours straight. I knew he was special immediately. 2 days later, on January 20th, we met in person on the corner of 7th Ave, right by the Christopher Street subway stop. He looked like he had stepped out of the pages of GQ, and his smile gave me butterflies. We hit it off immediately thereafter.

Fast forward to 2 and a half years later on April 14th, 2017. Woody and I had taken adventures, made new friends, helped each other thru tough times, celebrated during the great times, and most importantly, fallen deeply in love. I knew he was my guy.

April 14th was a clear, perfect, AZ blue sky day at the Grand Canyon. Woody had never been to the Canyon, and I had to be the one to show it to him. Our good friends Amy and Abe had joined us and were taking pictures of us. The next thing I knew, Woody was letting me know that he would like to spend the rest of his life with me. He popped down on one knee in front of a nice crowd of German tourists, our friends, and one of Gods most breathtaking creations as a backdrop (Nailed it!) Of course I said “yes!” 3 hours later, back in Phoenix, there were more surprises! Woody, with the help of our families threw a giant surprise engagement party for us, complete with his family members, who had flown out to AZ! It was one of the happiest days of my life.

January 20th, 2015, my life changed forever in front of that subway stop. January 20th, 2019, my life will change again when we become one as husband and wife.”

I am absolutely in love with Woody + Rachael’s New York City Engagement Session! Rachael + Woody are getting married on January 20, 2019 at one of my favorite venues in the country, Mountain Shadows Resort in Paradise Valley Arizona. I am honored that you selected KolorPHX Photographic CO to capture all of the special moments of your big day and I cannot wait to celebrate with you and your family!…again!
