Arizona Mountain Engagement // Kelly + Dan
We got to hang out with Kelly + Dan this past weekend and photograph their Arizona Mountain Engagement session! We had so much fun with these two! Kelly found me on Instagram a few months back and after a couple of phone calls, we decided that we were the perfect fit for their wedding photographer! We love the power of social media! So here is Kelly + Dan’s love story as Kelly describes it…
” I totally take credit for Dan and I being where we are today. When we first met and exchanged numbers I never heard from him. I decided to reach out which eventually led to our first date, which was my actual first date ever! We had a fun night of drinks and playing pool. The night ended with a kiss and from then on I knew he was the one.
Leading up to the proposal. Seven years into dating and not living together he was given the opportunity to purchase his first home. He told me, “I can either buy you a ring or get us a house, which do you want?” I said “get the house, I’m not going anywhere. He said he always knew I was the one but that answer made it that more clear. I knew all along I couldn’t picture my life without Dan. We had been through so much, good and bad and I can say we are finally at the perfect place in our lives to start a future and one day a family.
The proposal. Dan planned a double date with our good friends at the ice skating rink. He wanted all of our family and friends there, but wanted it to be a surprise. They were all hiding in the back, nowhere to be seen. All four of us sat down at a table, but one by,one they all got up and left me. They either had to make a phone be call or they recognized somebody and wanted to say hello. I was then approached by one of dans friends, whom I’ve never met. He seemed to take an interest in me and said he was new to the area. Dan came rushing over and the guys said, “is this your wife and questioned where was my ring.” Dan said, ” she is my wife and that one day he was going to make me his wife. I was so confused and didn’t catch on. He told his friend to give him the ring already. Music started playing and I finally realized what was happening. His brother came out of the back singing Bruno Mars, Marry Me, with personal lyrics he put together relating to us and our lives. Behind him everyone else followed. I am definitely not somebody who likes all eyes on me, but I can say it was the best proposal ever. I am so blessed for that and all he has done and will do for me. We cannot wait to get married next year and start the next chapter in our lives!”
